We never ask about immigration or residence status, and we never sell personal information.

Who is responsible

TAS Americas (Together and Stronger Americas) is responsible for the personal information described in this notice, which covers tasamericas.org in every language in which it is published. You can reach us by email at members@tasamericas.org, or by post at 6285 E Spring St, #516, Long Beach, CA 90808, USA.

What we collect

Only what you choose to give us through our forms. To become a member: your name, your email address, where you live, your preferred language and, if you wish, your country of origin or heritage, the number of adults in your household, your association and a message. To offer to serve: your name, email address, city, country, the role you would like and the languages you speak. To write to us: your name, email address, where you live, the subject of your question and your message.

When you use the questions window, the questions you type are answered within your browser from information published on this site. When you press “Talk to us”, the conversation is carried by our voice assistant provider so that we can answer you.

Our hosting provider keeps technical logs of visits, such as the time of a request, the page requested and the network address it came from, for the security and proper running of the site.

What we never collect

Immigration, citizenship or residence status. Passport, visa, Social Security, taxpayer or any other government identification numbers. Information about your health. Your political opinions or religious beliefs. Biometric information. Payment card or bank account details.

Please do not include any of these in a message, a form or a call. If you do, we delete them.

Why we use it

To answer you. To record members and associations and to issue the member card. To write to you about your membership, or about serving if you offered to serve. To send you news of member benefits where you live, only if you ticked that box. To keep the site secure and prevent abuse of our forms.

We rely on your consent, given when you submit a form, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure membership organization. You may withdraw your consent at any time.

Who handles it for us

A small number of service providers handle personal information on our instructions and for no purpose of their own: the provider that hosts this website, the service that receives and processes our forms, the provider that carries our email, and the voice assistant provider that carries calls made through “Talk to us”. Each is bound to protect the information and to use it only to provide its service to us.

When a member chooses to use a program in one of the twelve areas of benefit, TAS Member Services, a sister organization in the Together and Stronger family, arranges it. We pass on only what is needed for that program, and only when the member asks to use it.

What we never do with it

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for advertising or cross-context behavioral marketing. We use no advertising networks. We never have, and we never shall.

We disclose personal information to a public authority only where the law compels us to, and we would tell the member concerned unless the law forbids it.

Where it is kept

Your information is kept with our service providers, principally in the United States. Where it moves between countries, it is protected by the safeguards that the law of each country requires for such transfers.

How long we keep it

Membership records are kept for as long as you are a member, and deleted when you leave or ask us to delete them. Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as needed to answer you and for no more than two years. Offers to serve are kept while you serve, or for up to two years if no role follows. Technical logs are kept for a short period and then deleted.

How we protect it

The site is served only over encrypted connections. Access to member information is limited to the people who need it to serve members. Our forms are protected against automated abuse. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affected your information, we would tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to give you a copy, to correct it, or to delete it. You may object to our use of it, ask us to restrict it, and withdraw your consent at any time. You may unsubscribe from news of member benefits with one click, or by writing to us.

These rights are offered to every member and every visitor. Many of them are also protected by the law of the place where you live: for members in the United States, the California Consumer Privacy Act and the privacy laws of other states; and for Americans living abroad, the law of their country of residence, for example the General Data Protection Regulation in the European Union and the United Kingdom, Mexico’s Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data, Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD), and comparable laws elsewhere. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live.

To use any of these rights, write to members@tasamericas.org from the address you joined with. We reply within 30 days, and we never treat anyone less favorably for using their rights.

California residents

If you live in California, you have the right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, the sources, the purposes and the categories of service providers that receive it; the right to delete it; the right to correct it; the right to opt out of its sale or sharing; and the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not collect sensitive personal information for any purpose that would require a right to limit.

In the past twelve months we have collected identifiers (name, email address), general location (city and country), the optional details described above, and technical information about visits, all from you or your device, for the purposes set out in this notice. You may make a request yourself, or through an authorized agent; we may ask you to confirm the request from the email address you joined with. We do not discriminate against anyone who exercises these rights.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other websites. Your browser may store small settings on your own device, such as your choice of language, so that the site remembers them. The voice assistant loads only when you press its button, and its provider then processes the call.

Children

Membership is for adults. Children under 18 are included on a parent’s membership, and we do not ask for information about them beyond what a parent chooses to tell us. This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this notice

When this notice changes, the new version is published on this page with its effective date. If a change is significant, we tell members by email before it takes effect.
